I'm Gina, Nutrition and Wellness Health Coach of Simply Balanced with Gina, fitness instructor and mom of 3 little girls. My goal is to inspire a healthy lifestyle and be a good role model for my family and others. I work with women to redefine health by releasing the restrictive mindset and other misconceptions about health so that they can find a balanced approach to food, movement & mindset & be on their way to feeling and looking their best INSIDE and out!
Growing up people often commented on my size. This led to an irrational relationship with food and an unhealthy relationship with myself. But looking back now I realize that it might be what has gotten me to where I am today. If only I knew then what I know now about balance and making smart food choices I could've avoided all of the crazy diets, calorie counting, point counting, hours at the gym, deprivation, self-loathing, tears...the list is endless. And the funny part is, I eat more now and work out less, feel better about myself inside and out, and have managed to maintain a more comfortable weight than when I struggled with every piece of food that went into my mouth.
It's all about finding what works for YOU!
It was after I felt completely defeated and alone and struggled for over a year to conceive and then lost a pregnancy that I knew something had to change. Maybe I was going about this all wrong. It was at this time that the universe kept sending me signs about embarking on a future in nutrition. I took a leap of faith and signed up at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. The program fascinated and inspired me and I quickly started to implement much of what I was taught. I couldn't believe my own transformation. It was a journey of self-acceptance and healing for me personally and I knew this was the path I was meant to be on. I couldn't wait to help others with their own transformation.
I became pregnant with my first baby girl a few months into my program after what seemed like a hopeless, endless struggle and felt better about myself inside and out than ever before. I often wonder if I have IIN to thank for her. Two and a half years later I was blessed with another little girl and another two and a half years after that, my third, you guessed it...baby girl entered our crazy life! Teaching them the importance of nourishing and moving their bodies and a love of cooking is a top priority. I hope to set a positive example and teach them to have a healthy relationship with food and themselves.
There are so many misconceptions out there about what's "healthy" and what's not. My goal is to help others make smart choices that will lead to lifelong health and balance while building greater confidence within. Really, you can't heal what's on the outside until you feel complete on the inside. And it's not just the foods we eat. There is so much more that goes into finding that balance!
To say that becoming a Health Coach has been life-changing may sound dramatic or cliche, but for the first time in my life I felt free, like a dark cloud had been lifted and that I could finally start living my life. Take that first step to finding your own happiness.
